Forest School

Learning through Nature

At St Mary's Pre School we strongly believe in developing children's experiences with nature and the natural world.

At St Mary's Pre School our children regularly visit our 'Forest school'. This is where children spend a session out in a natural woodland environment engaged in activities such as den building, natural crafts, and general exploration and discovery of the natural world.

We have our own forest school site which is situated approximately 5 minutes walk from the Pre-School. The forest school was created in collaboration with the National Trust and local enviromental group "Make space for life"

Michelle (Pre-School Manager) is a qualified Forest School Leader and the Pre-School team have all been trained to deliver high quality outdoor learning experiences.

At the Forest School our children participate in a wide range of activities including den building, natural arts and crafts, exploration and general discovery of the natural world.

Children are able to challenge themselves physically and take small, manageable risks to develop resilience
